I already experienced some mishaps, however. When I left UCLA, I shipped a huge box of clothing and items back to my house. It's been 10 days and I still haven't received the box, so I've been desperately trying to shop for some new outfits for my abroad journey. Many girls would love an excuse to shop, but it's been a bit stressful for me. It was a nightmare having nothing I needed, but hopefully I'm packed up and ready to go. 12 hours more.

The Time I Was Counting Down
This time tomorrow, I think I will be somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean. I'm leaving tomorrow morning and will endure two layovers in Canada before touching down in France. I can now say I'm ready to begin this Travel Study Program.

The Time I Packed
One week. That's all that separates me from the streets of France. It feels strange and unimaginable right now. I'm brushing up on French films (Amelie, Tell No One, Paris je t'aime) and American films set in Paris (Midnight in Paris, Hugo, Ratatouille -- shamefully) to get myself excited, though I imagine I won't accurately learn about French culture through films.
I have high expectations that the buildings will be beautiful and the food divine, but I hope I will be able to soak up the history of Paris through my classes. For now, I have been gathering up items I will need for my almost-month abroad. Mini umbrella, sneakers with the perfect balance of cuteness and practicality, external battery charger for my phone, outlet adapters, dark clothing, and bucket lists I hope to accomplish in my short time.
When I first got home after my finals at UCLA, I felt a little regret and wanted to remain home for the summer to enjoy the rare moments with family that I've missed this year. Now I'm beginning to get excited about my trip to Paris, and I hope I can make the most of journey despite my lack of travel experience and extract every wonderful drop that Paris has to offer.
I'm looking at pictures of canals and side streets and cafes, and I can't wrap my head around the idea that this will soon be the perspective from my own eyes. The nerves are here, the stress is on when it comes to packing, but I hope my international naivety will not hinder this trip of a lifetime.

The Time I Made a Blog
Well the countdown begins -- I have six weeks until I take to the skies and travel across the Atlantic.
This will be the start of my travel blog, where I document my experiences this summer during my History in Paris Travel Study program.
We've already had our orientation, so all that's left to do now is finish the quarter at UCLA, pack my suitcases and plan my bucket list for everything I want to see in Europe.
Right now it's hardly fathomable that I will be witnessing the Eiffel Tower in person after seeing pictures so many times. Yet everything is coming together - yesterday I booked an apartment for a long weekend I'll be spending in London. In the past couple weeks, I've been ferociously downloading translation apps and trying to teach myself French via Youtube videos. Hint: I don't recommend it.
In the meantime, on the other side of the world, I'd better prepare for my midterm. Au revoir!
